Larry Junior Meier

April 17, 2024

After a long illness, Larry Junior Meier went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday evening Apr. 8th with his family by his side at UC Health Parkview Hospital, Pueblo, Co.

Larry was born January 30th, 1942 at Shattuck, OK. to Gottfried and Mary E. Meier. He spent his first three years on a farm south of Follet, Texas. He then moved with his family to Booker, Texas where he grew to manhood. He then began daywork around Booker to help support family.

One of his jobs was working for the Bar S Ranch out of Booker. One day while looking for strays, he came by a neighboring farm where the neighbor and his young daughter were working on a windmill.

The man and Larry struck up a conversation about a dance at Arnett, Ok. the following Saturday night and invited them to come. And it was that Larry Meier and Jessie D. Devers were married on August 2, 1964.

After the birth of their daughter, Lacreata, they moved to Hugo, Co. where Larry began work for the Coats Ranch. While working for this ranch their son, Larry Don, was born. When the Coats Ranch sold the Meier family moved to Arriba, Co and worked for Ed Cockreham for a short time. He then went to work for the Gesin Ranch at Limon, Co. It was here their second son, Richard, was born. When the Gesin Ranch sold, Larry and Jessie became owners of a small piece of land now known as The Meier Ranch.

This has been their home since 1975. During this time, Larry began working for The Forristall Ranch. He retired from this ranch a few years ago when his health began to fail.

Larry and Jessie would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on August 2, 2024.

Larry is survived by his wife Jessie; his daughter, Lacreata and husband Steve Mease; son Larry Don and his wife Lori Meier; son Richard Meier, all of Limon, Co. and from a previous marriage, daughter Mary E.
