LILLIAN LOUISE EINERTSON

May 03, 2023

Lillian Louise Einertson was born in Canon City, Colo. to Grace and Sam Hendricks on March 25, 1926. She passed away on April 14, 2023 at the Lincoln Community Hospital in Hugo, Colo.

Her first 10 years were spent in Canon City, while her father worked on the Royal Gorge

Project. The family then moved to Genoa, Colo. where they ran a general store before moving to the farm.

Lillian attended school in Genoa. The summer before her senior year she traveled to California to stay with her older sister, Violet, where she was employed at Lockheed-Martin working on P-38 Lightning Planes. She returned home to Genoa and graduated in 1945. She then began working at the telephone company followed by Fitzsimmons Hospital taking care of wounded soldiers.

Lillian found her true love, Oliver Einertson, in 1944. He was enlisted in the U.S. Navy and stationed in California. They then began writing letters to each other until he returned to Genoa in 1946. They married in 1948, and in the summer of 1952 their first daughter, Joan was born. Eighteen months later, their second daughter, Susan arrived.

She worked at Johnson’s Equipment Store after the girls were in school. Later on, she began working at the Genoa Post Office as a clerk and substitute mail carrier until she retired in 1987. Lillian and Oliver enjoyed their retirement days together as snowbirds in Arizona where they met so many dear friends over the next 20-plus years. Her favorite pastime was painting, along with traveling with Oliver going camping at their favorite two places in Colorado, Buena Vista and Cottonwood Lake.

Lillian enjoyed every minute she got to spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. So many fun games of Old Maid and golfing in the living room were the best of times spent with Reese. She truly loved and cherished her family.

Lillian L. Einertson was preceded in death by her daughter, Joan Sevey; her husband Oliver; her parents Sam and Grace Hendricks; sisters, Violet (Mel) Foster, Carol (Noble) Jones, Maybelle (Floyd) Martin, brother Sam (Audrey) Hendricks.
