Brody Scherrer ~ 2nd Team All State (CDCCA), Honorable Mention All State (CHSAA), & 1st Team All League
Brody had a phenomenal season for our Badger baseball team. This young man loves to play the game of baseball and is so fun to watch compete at such a high level on the field. He was a work horse on the mound and always wanted the ball in his hands, pitching 65 2/3 innings on the season (1st), led our pitching staff in wins (7), and most strikeouts (92). Offensively, Brody had the most hits (34), runs batted in (28), sacrifice fly’s (3), and tied for 1st in doubles (10). Brody was tied for 2nd on our team in batting average (.400) and was 2nd in runs scored (24). He was 3rd on the team in stolen bases (20). Brody was 5th on the team in On-Base percentage (.449) and 6th on the team in walks (10). Brody had a walk-off, game winning hit at home against Lyons in our final home game of the regular season, where the Badgers won 3-2. What a memory for sure! Brody hit safely in 19 out of our 25 games this season; including most three hit games on the season with 3.
Logan Haflich ~ Honorable Mention All State (CHSAA & CDCCA) & 1st Team All League
Logan had a fantastic senior season for the Badgers. This young man was a difference maker on the field and was willing to do anything that the team needed him to do with heart, hustle, and a positive attitude all season long! Logan was 1st on our team in batting average (.414) and stolen bases (23). He was 2nd on the team in runs batted in (16), hit-by-pitches (6), and on-base percentage (529). Logan was 3rd on our team in hits (29), tied for 3rd in runs scored (23), and tied for 4th in doubles (3). He was 5th on our team in walks (11). Logan hit safely in 20 out of our 25 games this season at the plate, offensively. I always remember him stealing home against Swink and making a Super Man diving catch in right-center in our Regional game against Platte Valley. Those plays truly speak volumes about his no fear demeanor and willingness to do whatever it takes to help our team succeed on the field.
Brooks Scherrer ~ Honorable Mention All State (CHSAA) & 1st Team All League
Brooks had a wonderful season for our Badger Baseball team, truly making a huge impact as a Freshman. Brooks is an unbelievably competitive and dynamic ball player who always seems to rise up when our team needs him the most on the field. A perfect example was his very first game of the season in the Fowler tournament against Crowley County, where he stepped up to the plate in the 7th inning and belted a two RBI double to the left field fence to help our team secure our first win of the season. There is nothing that this young man cannot do on the baseball diamond. Brooks was 1st on the team in runs scored (28) and tied for 1st in doubles (10). Brooks was 2nd on the team in hits (32), pitching wins (4), innings pitched (31 1/3), and tied for 2nd in batting average (.400). He was 3rd on the team in on-base percentage (.495), pitching strikeouts (36), and offensive walks (14). Brooks was 4th on the team in runs batted in (13) and stolen bases (19). Brooks hit safely in 18 out of 23 games this season; including the only four hit game of the season where he went 4-for-4 with three singles, a double, and two walks in the same game against Peyton.
Aiden Kollath ~ 1st Team All League
Aiden is a coach’s dream and a team leader in how he always practices at full speed. Aiden is a quiet leader by always letting his heart and hustle lead the way and do his talking on the baseball field. Aiden played in 15 of our team’s 25 games during the season, missing the final ten games of the season, due to injury. Despite that injury, Aiden was 1st on the team in pitching games saved (3), 2nd in pitching strikeouts (46), 3rd in pitching wins (3) and innings pitched (30). Offensively, Aiden was tied for 2nd on the team in triples (1), 6th on the team in batting average (.270), on-base percentage (.404), stolen bases (11), and runs batted in (10). Aiden always has ice in his veins, which showed as he closed out three ball games on the mound to notch saves. The most intense one was against Swink, where they had the bases loaded with only one out, and he calmly recorded the final two outs of the game to ensure a Badger victory 4-2
Camdyn Tacha ~ 1st Team All League
Camdyn had a tremendous freshman season for the Badgers on the diamond. Camdyn is an extremely talented player who has so much athleticism and intellect as he competes at such a high level. In practice, Camdyn would learn something for the first time and execute what he learned like a natural during the game. Camdyn was 1st on the team in triples (2) and tied for 1st in walks (17). He was 3rd on the team in runs batted in (14) and tied for 3rd in hit-by-pitches (4). Camdyn was 4th on the team in batting average (.329), on-base percentage (.479), hits (24), and pitching wins (1). He was 5th on the team in runs scored (19). Camdyn hit safely in 18 out of our 25 games this season; including the final seven games of our season when everything was on the line for our team!
Liam Yoder ~ Honorable
Mention All League
Liam was a versatile player and had a highly productive season for our Badger team. Many times Liam was running across the outfield grass to run down a fly ball, playing a solid second base to end the year, eating up innings on the mound as a pitcher, or pilling up impressive on-base percentage numbers at the plate. This young man is fun to watch play Baseball. Liam was 1st on our team in on-base percentage (.549), set an All Time single season Badger record for hit-by-pitches (19), and was tied for 1st in both Home Runs (1) and walks (17). He was 2nd on the team in stolen bases (21) and tied for 2nd in triples (1). Liam was 3rd in doubles (4) and runs scored (23). He was 4th in innings pitched (13 1/3), pitching strikeouts (20), and 6th in hits (14).
Congratulations to all of these fine young men on their success and accolades received on the baseball field for our Badger program this past spring! They were a competitive group of young men who took on the best of the best and finished the season ranked #9 with an impressive 15-10 record. Thank you to all of the players on our team for your hard work, commitment to excellence, and amazing belief systems in each other all season long. Our 6 seniors (Logan Haflich, Carson Perry, Braxten Churchwell, Jadyn Martinez, Andre Dumaug, and Drake Bogle) will be missed as they were strong leaders and truly loved playing the game of Baseball. Thank you to the parents, fans, and Limon supporters who always show up to find the good in our team. Thank you to my amazing assistant coaches, Zeb Baylie, Schafer Thompson, and Steve Ryan for going above and beyond to ignite the passion, knowledge, and love of baseball inside our players’ hearts! Thank you to Jason Bandy and the town of Limon for their countless hours of field maintenance, hard work, and facility improvements. Our new turf outfield is simply amazing and we are so thankful to play on such an awesome field. Thank you to my wife Cheryl, my biggest supporter and best friend, for always empowering me to be the best version of myself as a husband, father, educator, and baseball coach. Thank you to Allison Scherrer and Kirsten Tacha for overseeing the concession stand and for all of the parents who chipped in to help run it during our games. Thank you to Badger Nation for ALWAYS showing up BIG for our school, our student/athletes, and our athletic teams!!!
