Deborah L Humpert of Limon, CO. passed on May 29, 2025 at her home.
Debbie was born in March 31, 1959 to Verl and Peggy McElwain. She grew up on the family farm near Matheson, CO. She learned to cook, throw straw bales, drive combines and tractors, herd cattle, as well as the many tasks required to grow up as a Country Girl.
Debbie worked several jobs to provide for her son and was able to buy her own home and accomplish everything on her own; her family was so proud of what she had built.
Her son, Andrew was the greatest joy in her life, she shared with those closest to her of his accomplishments and milestones and how very proud of the man he has become. She dedicated her life to her family and had a deep faith in God through a lot of hard tests and trials throughout her life but she always kept her faith in God and kept moving forward.
Deb retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2023 after serving 30 years as a rural route carrier. She loved so many of her mail route customers and there seemed to always be special gifts for her from a bouquet of flowers or fresh vegetables from someone’s garden; or a young child bringing their new puppy or kitten out to show her. She always had a milk bone for her canine friends as well.
Deb was a country girl at heart and one of her favorite things to do was drive out to the country and watch a thunderstorm or a sunset and always got excited to see all of the new young wildlife she saw in early spring while driving her postal routes. She always found joy in the little things that nature had to offer on the great plains.
Deb spent many hours in her yard making it beautiful and a serene place to be for all who shared afternoons or morning on her back patio with a hot or cold beverage. She rescued her dog Toby and spent her time taming him and showing him to trust again; something that healed both her and Toby. She was so proud of her sidekick and brought her so much joy after retirement.
Deb was preceded in death by her father Verl McElwain, Grandparents Wilbur and Mildred McElwain, Grandmother and Grandfather, Martha and Floyd Mitchem, and many aunts and uncles that she had very close relationships with.
Deb is survived by her son Andrew Humpert; mother Peggy McElwain; sister Diane (Andy) Hugley; sister (Mark) Becky Mahalic; along with nieces, great nieces and nephews, and many cousins, aunts and uncles.

A Time for Everything
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.
In Loving Memory
