KATHRYN ANN MORGAN

6/16/1934-11/19/2024

Kay Morgan, age 90, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2024. Born in Burlington, Colorado, she was the daughter of Rueben and Anne Anderson. And a loving sister to Jim Anderson, Charlene James, Dick Anderson, Lola Cary, and Paul Anderson.

Kay spent the majority of her life in Golden, Colorado, where she raised her family alongside her beloved late husband, Wendell Gene Morgan.

Kay was a devoted mother to her five children: Mary Ann, Dan, Gina, Jan, and Jane. She was also a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Throughout her life, Kay's love for her family and friends was immeasurable. She touched the hearts of many and was known for her kind and compassionate spirit.

Her family and friends take comfort in the knowledge that Kay’s love will continue to guide them, and they find peace in the belief that they will one day reunite with her in heaven. Kay will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.

A Poem for Grandma

~By “Little Kathryn”

WARMTH

The room is filled with the rich smell of coffee percolating.

Warmth immediately wraps around you like a hug when walking into the home.

A small lamp glows in the corner, next to your things- a nail file, crossword, and letters from loved ones.

A deep breath, inhaling all the memories of you. The musty coolness swirled with laundry detergent settles in the basement. Down the hall there’s the smell of hairspray and toothpaste, clean and crisp.

The kitchen of course envelopes you with coffee and whatever is sizzling on the stovetop. A love language of a full belly.

I can feel you in each breath. The warmth of the memories is you. Gripping my hands in yours, as you press your fingers into my skin. A smile and a laugh as you ask me if I want a milkshake, your secret recipe.

It’s cold and somehow cozy as I sip the vanilla and chocolate from the silver cup.

It is this, it is these things, the smells and the tastes, the warmth of all those things that will always lead me back to you.

You’re gone now, soaring on wings of eagles. But you’ll always be with us, in these memories we’ve collected of you.
