In Norman’s words . . .
Norman Lee Olsen was born March 25, 1939 in Flagler, Colorado. He went to school at Mount Pearl and Kit Carson High School.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents Sigurd and Evelyn Olsen, his sisters Helen Starkweather and Marilyn Longwell and brother Willie Olsen.
Norman attended college in La Junta, Colorado for 1 year and spent 2 years in the United States Army.
In his first marriage he had 3 children Monte Olsen, Renee Hilgren and Carolyn Kortmeyer.
Norman met Wanda Truax in February of 1983 and on June 25, 1983 they were married. Wanda had 3 children from a previous marriage, Paula Turner, Jerry Skaggs and Tina Mason.
Norman retired from Farmland Foods in 1986.
Norman returned to Colorado in 1986 and worked for the Road and Bridge Department for Cheyenne County, retiring in 2003.
Norman passed away peacefully at his home in rural Cheyenne County on November 10, 2024.
Norman and Wanda have 13 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral services for Norman Olsen will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Kit Carson. Burial will follow in the Kit Carson Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6-7pm on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at the Brown Funeral Home in Cheyenne Wells.
Memorial contributions should be made to the Lincoln Community Home Health and Hospice in Hugo.
