The Walks Camp 4-H Club met on February 2, 2025 in the foyer at Limon Public Schools due to snow and mud at Walks Camp.  There were 21 members present and three of them were new members.

It was stated by Elisha Thompson that Beef Weigh in is March 1st, brand inspection paperwork must be done before weigh in or else your steer will not be weighed. She also mentioned to check the February Newsletter to see any updates on senior scholarships. Also, the 4-H Foundation has very generously payed the club’s dues.

Ronny Pope, the Livestock Judging Coach for Lincoln County also gave an announcement stating that there will be a meet and greet on February 6th at the Extension Office at 6:30pm for the upcoming season. He stated that there are 6 contests that they will try to attend this season where the kids will judge livestock and give reasons to a judge. He encouraged members to join fun-filled Livestock Judging Team.

Elsie and Asha Thompson explained their experience at the Leadership Development Conference they attended last weekend in Denver. They went through some of the stations that they attended, one of their favorites was the Social Media Station in which they discussed the effect that social media has on young people in the world today. They said that it was fun and they learned a lot.

Wayne Miller, who is the new Lincoln County Extension Agent, was present at the meeting and he asked all of the members to state their name and the projects that they will be doing this year. He explained that he was excited and looks forward to the year ahead.

Cheryl Thompson also gave a special welcome to the new members who are joining the club and asked them if they would state their name and what they are looking forward to this year. Katie Christianson said she looked forward to doing Market Hogs, Jasper Craig said he was excited for Leather Working, and Easton Fisher said that he was also looking forward to Market Hog.   

Sage Thompson did a demonstration on the ration that she gives her steer and the ingredients that are in her feed. It was stated that the next meeting will be on March 2, 2025.
